He completed his MBBS from the renowned Mymensingh Medical College in Bangladesh. He then pursued his D.Ortho and MS (Ortho) degrees from the National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR), Dhaka. His MS thesis was a comprehensive research on “Cervical Spine Injuries.” For over a decade, Dr. Dastagir has been serving as a specialist in spine, orthopaedic, and trauma surgery at NITOR (Pangu Hospital), Dhaka. Currently, he holds the position of senior consultant. Dr. Dastagir provides consultations and performs conservative treatment & surgeries for various conditions, including Bone & Joint pain (Neck,  ,Shoulder,Arm,Elbow,Wrist,Hand,Back,Hip,Knee,Ankle,Foot); bone fractures and joint dislocation (upper limb, spine, pelvis, lower limb); Spinal diseases (due to trauma/infection/degeneration/tumor/deformity), etc., like all Spine, Orthopedic and Trauma-related issues. He has advanced training in knee ligament injuries, total hip replacement, and total knee replacement, as well as extensive experience in complex spinal surgeries. With the collaboration of the World Health Organization (WHO), he underwent specialized training in total hip and knee replacement under Dr. Shekhar Agarwal and arthroscopy under Dr. Shekhar Srivastava in Delhi. Additionally, he completed the combined 4th ISAKOS Knee Course and 8th Pune Knee Course in Pune, India. He received a scholarship from the Asia Pacific Orthopedic Association-South Indian Arthroplasty Academy for advanced training in total hip and knee replacement. He also trained in minimally invasive spine surgery under the direct supervision of renowned spine surgeon Dr. Arvind Kulkarni at Bombay Hospital, Mumbai. Through an AO Spine Asia Pacific Fellowship, Dr. Dastagir trained in spinal diagnostics, treatment, and surgery under Professor S. Rajasekaran at Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore, India. He furthered his spine expertise through fellowships with esteemed surgeons, including Dr. Lawrence G. Lenke at New York Presbyterian Hospital (USA) and Dr. Dilip Kumar Sen at Texas Advanced Scoliosis and Spine Center, USA. Dr. Dastagir also completed the prestigious AO Trauma Fellowship under Dr. Thomas Muckley at Helios Klinikum, Erfurt, Germany. He earned the prestigious Global Spine Diploma from AO Spine (Switzerland). Additionally, he completed a traveling fellowship in spine surgery under the Korean Society of Spine Surgery in Seoul, South Korea.
